Travis Barker

Travis Barker is an american musician, and the drummer for the rock-punk band Blink 182. He was born in California, 14 November in 1975. As well he was a member of the transplants, the aquabats, box car racer, + 44 and more.

Travis started playing the drums at the age of 4. He studied with Allen Carter, a percussionist and jazz director.

Music career:

After his graduation in 1993 became a member of the aquabats.

In 1998 the aquabats and blink 182 were in a tour, Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus fired Scott Raynor after a drinking ploblem became far too prevalent. Hoppus and DeLonge asked Barker of Blink 182’s support band The aquabats to fill in for Raynor for the remainder of the tour, and, after being impressed with Barker, asked him to join the band.

The band released their breakthrough album Enema of the State in June 1999 to commercial success, fueled by successful singles "What's My Age Again", "All the Small Things", and "Adam's Song". After releasing live album The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back!) in November 2000, the band entered the studio and recorded their fourth studio album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, released in June 2001. The album continued the band's commercial success and popularity.

Tensions arose between the band members as DeLonge expressed his desire to cancel the tour and enter a half-year respite from touring in late 2004, and the band officially announced an "indefinite hiatus" in February 2005. DeLonge formed Angels & Airwaves while Hoppus and Barker continued playing music together in +44.

The band announced their reunion in February 2009 at the Grammy Awards ceremony. A well-received reunion tour took place in mid-2009, with a European leg performed in summer 2010. Currently, the band is returning from the aforementioned tour and preparing to record their sixth studio album.

Plane crash:

On September 19, 2008, Barker was injured when the Learjet 60 in which he was a passenger crashed outside Columbia.

On September 21, medical director of the Burn Center reported that Barker sustained second and third degree burns on his lower body and torso and was expected to fully recover within a year. Barker stopped his vegetarian diet and began eating meat to increase his protein intake and possibly speed up healing of his burns. Barker survived the incident.

Curious data:

Travis' first instrument as a boy was the trumpet, and not drums.

TALK ABOUT MY LIFE CIRCLES

An important person that I haven’t seen for several years is my grandfather, he died in 2006 and I still remembered and I talk of him. He was very special with all the family but in the same time he gave a lot of problems because he was a drunker. My grandfather was a professor, but when he gave the retirement he began to drunk, in Copacabana town he was very “famous” because his profession and I remembered that he said that he wanted to have a familiar who were lawyer and a teacher. My sister and one of my aunts are teachers and the lawyer is not practicing yet.

My favorite day of the week is Saturday because these day is when I really rest, my day begin with a long walk with some friends, or just with my boyfriend and his dog, then I arrived home to have lunch and I sleep a short time, after that my friends call me and we watch a film or we cook, or we just play board games. Finally at night we go to drink a beer or a coffee in a bar.

An important place in my family history is Pueblo Rico town, this town is located in southwestern Antioquia, because we lived several years there, we were very happy because our family had a high “status” because my father and mother was the bacteriology of this town, so people in the town knew my sister and my very well and whatever that happened with us, the people help us because the reputation of my family was that my father was very honored. There were a year with a lot of politics problem and thus did that we have to get out to this town.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME FEEL…

I’m a serious person, but I try to always being smile, or find a reason to laugh for example when a friend tells me something funny like a joke or when somebody felt out its inevitable not laugh, first I laugh and then if she/he needs help I try to help her/him. Sometimes I laugh or smile when I remember something pleasant that makes me really happy when I’m in bad moments.

Something that I really detest is when somebody is disrespectful with someone else, although this is a very subjective concept, for example for me is very disrespectful when I agree one day or hour to a meeting and makes me wait.

Something that makes me happy is be with people that I really like to be as my friends, parents or also plays with animals because they are pretty and tender.

Something that makes me frighten are horror movies, because I know that when I’m going to sleep I will have nightmares but movies should be very realistic not like monsters or aliens but for example like paranormal things that we know that maybe is going to happen.

Something that makes me embarrassed, is almost everything but in special is when I say something stupid, or somebody very close to me say something inappropriate, immediately I try to change the sense of the conversation.

Something that makes me stressed is when somebody is very slow doing something, or when people shout for everything.

Something that makes me depressed, is when I’m alone in house, because I feel lonely and sad for that reason I try to stay with somebody every time.

Something that makes me relax, is when I stay at home with somebody that really please me, watching movies or tv, without thinking in anything just enjoying the moment.

TIM ROTH /Actor

TIM ROTH

Timothy Simon Smith or also known as Tim Roth is one of my favorite actors. He was born in Dulwich- London on May the 14th of 1961. His mother was a teacher and painter and his father was a journalist. His father decided to change the name of the family from Smith to Roth because Smith was a British last name and Roth was a Jewish-British last name and in the 40s he was scared because of the World War and as a journalist he had to travel a lot and many people disliked british people.

Tim wanted to be a sculptor and he studied in Camberwell College of Arts located in London, but on those days he decided to drop out and to pursue his dream: to become an actor. At the age of 21 he started to act in a tv serie called “Made in Britain”. He also acted in “Alf” and most of his papers were as a tough guy. At that time he also acted in movies such as: “The hit”, “Van Gogh”. But Quentin Tarantino was the one who put his career in the international life with the movies: “Reservoir dogs” and “Pulp fiction”. Since the 90s he has been one of the favorite actors from the director Tarantino. Tim also took part in the movie “Four rooms”, the movie done by 4 directors.

Sometimes he is mistaken for an American because his abilities to imitate accents. He acquired this skill since early ages when he was at Brixton School where he was persecuted by his classmates because of his middle class background.

Nowadays he works in a TV serie called “Lie to me” and it’s very successful all over the world. Actually this tv show it’s one of my favorites because it’s about micro-gestures, verbal and non-verbal language and how these elements could say more about truth than a speech itself. I really enjoy the program.

Curious Data….

He had two marriages and 3 sons.

He currently has 5 tattoos according to special events in his life.

His middle name is Simon.

The names of his children are: Cormac, Timothy and Jack.

3 questions...

MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK

My favorite day of the week is Friday because that day it’s like a symbol of freedom. Maybe because when I was at high school on Fridays we arrived early, around 1pm and this was a big reason to be happy. At this moment Fridays mean that I’m finishing another long week even if I have classes on Saturdays and they also mean that I will have a space to rest or to go out or to go to the movies or to stay at home doing nothing.

AN IMPORTANT PERSON WHEN I WAS GROWING UP

A very important person when I was growing up and also now is my grandmother. She is a woman who has been part of my life since I was born and she has been my godmother in all special occasions. She was, has been and is very important in my life because she had to raise 4 girls on her own and that made it a strong and very independent woman. I really admire her and even if she it’s extremely catholic I thank her for giving me strength and the value of facing adversity with a happy face. I see her almost every day.

THE NUMBER OF THE PEOPLE LIVING IN YOUR HOUSE

At this moment I’m living in my grandmother’s house. This house has 3 floors. My mother, my brother and me (and Agatha our pet) live in the first floor. My grandmother lives in the second floor and nobody lives in the third floor because there is where my aunts stayed when they come from Usa or from Ibague.

We decided to come and live with my grandmother when my mother and her husband broke up last year. We thought it was going to be difficult to live with my grandmother because she is a very catholic person (a fanatic). But it has worked fine. My brother is a nice company to her because we (my mother and I) are not in the house during the day and he goes to walk with her or to the church (he hates church) just to “make her happy” that is what he says.

Actually we were living in the third floor but it’s very hot up there because the sun warms the house during the day so we decided to move to the first floor. But down there it’s the opposite. It’s a very cold cold place and it has been troublesome for my health. So we are moving back to the third floor.

Music legend!

Freddy mercury!

Who wants to live forever?”

Freddy mercury was a British musician, best known as the lead vocalist and a songwriter of the rock band Queen.

His real name was Farrokh Bulsara, and was born in Gujarati, 5 September in 1946 and died 24 November in 1991.

Music career:

After his graduation, Mercury joined a series of bands. Friends from the time remember him as a quiet and shy young man who showed a great deal of interest in music

In April 1970, Mercury joined guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor who had previously been in a band called Smile. Despite reservations from the other members, Mercury chose the name "Queen" for the new band. He later said about the band's name, "I was certainly aware of the gay connotations, but that was just one facet of it". At about the same time, he changed his surname, Bulsara, to Mercury.

Mercury wrote 10 of the 17 songs on Queen's Greatest Hits album: "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Seven Seas of Rhye", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy", "We Are the Champions", "Bicycle Race", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Play the Game".

One of Mercury's most notable performances with Queen took place at Live Aid in 1985, during which the entire stadium audience of 72,000 people clapped, sang and swayed in unison. Queen's performance at the event has since been voted by a group of music executives as the greatest live performance in the history of rock music!

Illness and disease:

According to his partner Jim Hutton, Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS shortly after Easter of 1987.

Mercury died on the evening of 24 November 1991 at the age of 45. The official cause of death was bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS.

Legacy:

Is clearly that Mercury’s death may have enhanced Queen's popularity. In the United States, where Queen's popularity had lagged in the 1980s, sales of Queen Albums went up dramatically in 1992, the year following his death.

He was also the first major rock star to die from AIDS, so Mercury's death represented a very important event in the disease's history. In April 1992, the remaining members of Queen founded The Mercury Phoenix Trust and organized The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness to celebrate the life and legacy of Mercury and raise money for AIDS research, which took place on Easter Monday, 20 April 1992.

Curios note:

Brian May the former guitarist from queen announced in a BBC interview that Sacha Baron Cohen, previously best known for his comedic characters Borat, Ali G and Brüno, had been chosen to play Mercury in a film about his life. The motion picture is being written by Peter Morgan, who had been nominated for Oscars for his screenplays The Queen and Frost/Nixon. The film, which is being co-produced by Robert De Niro's TriBeCa Productions, will focus on Queen's formative years and the period leading up to the celebrated performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert. Filming is due to begin sometime in 2011.

“I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear”.
