TIM ROTH /Actor

TIM ROTH

Timothy Simon Smith or also known as Tim Roth is one of my favorite actors. He was born in Dulwich- London on May the 14th of 1961. His mother was a teacher and painter and his father was a journalist. His father decided to change the name of the family from Smith to Roth because Smith was a British last name and Roth was a Jewish-British last name and in the 40s he was scared because of the World War and as a journalist he had to travel a lot and many people disliked british people.

Tim wanted to be a sculptor and he studied in Camberwell College of Arts located in London, but on those days he decided to drop out and to pursue his dream: to become an actor. At the age of 21 he started to act in a tv serie called “Made in Britain”. He also acted in “Alf” and most of his papers were as a tough guy. At that time he also acted in movies such as: “The hit”, “Van Gogh”. But Quentin Tarantino was the one who put his career in the international life with the movies: “Reservoir dogs” and “Pulp fiction”. Since the 90s he has been one of the favorite actors from the director Tarantino. Tim also took part in the movie “Four rooms”, the movie done by 4 directors.

Sometimes he is mistaken for an American because his abilities to imitate accents. He acquired this skill since early ages when he was at Brixton School where he was persecuted by his classmates because of his middle class background.

Nowadays he works in a TV serie called “Lie to me” and it’s very successful all over the world. Actually this tv show it’s one of my favorites because it’s about micro-gestures, verbal and non-verbal language and how these elements could say more about truth than a speech itself. I really enjoy the program.

Curious Data….

He had two marriages and 3 sons.

He currently has 5 tattoos according to special events in his life.

His middle name is Simon.

The names of his children are: Cormac, Timothy and Jack.

MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK

My favorite day of the week is Friday because that day it’s like a symbol of freedom. Maybe because when I was at high school on Fridays we arrived early, around 1pm and this was a big reason to be happy. At this moment Fridays mean that I’m finishing another long week even if I have classes on Saturdays and they also mean that I will have a space to rest or to go out or to go to the movies or to stay at home doing nothing.

AN IMPORTANT PERSON WHEN I WAS GROWING UP

A very important person when I was growing up and also now is my grandmother. She is a woman who has been part of my life since I was born and she has been my godmother in all special occasions. She was, has been and is very important in my life because she had to raise 4 girls on her own and that made it a strong and very independent woman. I really admire her and even if she it’s extremely catholic I thank her for giving me strength and the value of facing adversity with a happy face. I see her almost every day.

THE NUMBER OF THE PEOPLE LIVING IN YOUR HOUSE

At this moment I’m living in my grandmother’s house. This house has 3 floors. My mother, my brother and me (and Agatha our pet) live in the first floor. My grandmother lives in the second floor and nobody lives in the third floor because there is where my aunts stayed when they come from Usa or from Ibague.

We decided to come and live with my grandmother when my mother and her husband broke up last year. We thought it was going to be difficult to live with my grandmother because she is a very catholic person (a fanatic). But it has worked fine. My brother is a nice company to her because we (my mother and I) are not in the house during the day and he goes to walk with her or to the church (he hates church) just to “make her happy” that is what he says.

Actually we were living in the third floor but it’s very hot up there because the sun warms the house during the day so we decided to move to the first floor. But down there it’s the opposite. It’s a very cold cold place and it has been troublesome for my health. So we are moving back to the third floor.

Music legend!

Freddy mercury!

Who wants to live forever?”

Freddy mercury was a British musician, best known as the lead vocalist and a songwriter of the rock band Queen.

His real name was Farrokh Bulsara, and was born in Gujarati, 5 September in 1946 and died 24 November in 1991.

Music career:

After his graduation, Mercury joined a series of bands. Friends from the time remember him as a quiet and shy young man who showed a great deal of interest in music

In April 1970, Mercury joined guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor who had previously been in a band called Smile. Despite reservations from the other members, Mercury chose the name "Queen" for the new band. He later said about the band's name, "I was certainly aware of the gay connotations, but that was just one facet of it". At about the same time, he changed his surname, Bulsara, to Mercury.

Mercury wrote 10 of the 17 songs on Queen's Greatest Hits album: "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Seven Seas of Rhye", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy", "We Are the Champions", "Bicycle Race", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Play the Game".

One of Mercury's most notable performances with Queen took place at Live Aid in 1985, during which the entire stadium audience of 72,000 people clapped, sang and swayed in unison. Queen's performance at the event has since been voted by a group of music executives as the greatest live performance in the history of rock music!

Illness and disease:

According to his partner Jim Hutton, Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS shortly after Easter of 1987.

Mercury died on the evening of 24 November 1991 at the age of 45. The official cause of death was bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS.

Legacy:

Is clearly that Mercury’s death may have enhanced Queen's popularity. In the United States, where Queen's popularity had lagged in the 1980s, sales of Queen Albums went up dramatically in 1992, the year following his death.

He was also the first major rock star to die from AIDS, so Mercury's death represented a very important event in the disease's history. In April 1992, the remaining members of Queen founded The Mercury Phoenix Trust and organized The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness to celebrate the life and legacy of Mercury and raise money for AIDS research, which took place on Easter Monday, 20 April 1992.

Curios note:

Brian May the former guitarist from queen announced in a BBC interview that Sacha Baron Cohen, previously best known for his comedic characters Borat, Ali G and Brüno, had been chosen to play Mercury in a film about his life. The motion picture is being written by Peter Morgan, who had been nominated for Oscars for his screenplays The Queen and Frost/Nixon. The film, which is being co-produced by Robert De Niro's TriBeCa Productions, will focus on Queen's formative years and the period leading up to the celebrated performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert. Filming is due to begin sometime in 2011.

HECTOR LAVOE:

No one is good no one is completely wrong” Hector Lavoe

He was a Puerto rican Singer, he sang Salsa. He was born in September 30 of 1993 and he died in June 29 of 1993.

Lavoe liked the music since he was 17 years old, when he move to New York; there he belonged to a salsa´s group (Kako All-stars), then in 1967 Lavoe was a principal in the Willie colon orchestra, but in that time he was addict to the drugs. So Lavoe was his own orchestra (Fania All Stars) because Willie fired him.

Lavoe was a singer so depressive and in 1979 he tried to recover but in this year his son died because his friend killed him so it was a reason for relapse again in the drugs, and in this same year his father and his mother in law died too. After these situations Lavoe made a concert but when he was singing the logistic people turned off the sound and the lights, therefore he came back to his hotel and the next day he tried to commit suicide himself in an eighth floor but he survived. Months later Lavoe made his last one record and during this, he got infect with sida but in this year he health got worse and he died in New York. Surviving in a reality of which I couldn´t scape” Lavoe

In the salsa´s history Hector Lavoe represents: the street sense, and the man who hides his characteristics and misfortunes in the society.

I sing to the life with laughter and sorrows of bad times and good times” Lavoe.

Hector Lavoe was an excellent singer for me and I love all his songs, because these songs has a letter so nice and realist, also many people listen these songs and although he died seventeen years ago his songs always will be cause celebration and emotion in the people.

He wasn’t an excellent person, because he had many problems and his life didn’t be easy, as a result he assumed these problems with drugs and sex, it means with the easy life, but the people always is going to love and remember him for his excellent music.

Everything has its end” Hector Lavoe.

My Past:

· An important person when you were growing up:

When I was growing up, an important person for me was: Dora, she was my nanny and she fixed my house. She is so important for me because when I was three years old my parents couldn’t take care me because they worked all day (7 to 8pm), so Dora arrived at home in October 15 in 1995, since that moment I was so closed to her and we went to play in the neighborhood (navarra), we always ate together, she helped me with the homework and although we fought sometimes, we are always together. Two years later we changed of neighborhood (la Asuncion) and in that year I began in the Normal of Copacabana, so Dora went with me to the bus. Three years later we moved again of house near the other and my parents continued working all day, so Dora for me was like my second mom, in it house when I arrived to the school we had a lunch together and we watched television too. Also she was like my mom because she lived with me all my entire child hood and the first years of my adolescence, she lived with me for nine years. But one day she had to go because she was pregnant so her obligation was other since that moment. It situation for me was so difficult because since that moment my mother hired five girls in the year but we didn’t like anybody so my parents decided didn’t take on anybody so I was lonely and I always miss so much her, I love her, but she comes to my house some days and I talk with her so nice.

· An important person you haven’t seen for several years:

In 2005 my cousin Steven came to Colombia, he lives in United States and he always came each year. When we were child we always played together in summer, in this way that year (2005)we were 13 years old and we began fell in love, but our family didn’t allow us to be boyfriend because we are cousin and because we began the relationship but he had go to United States two months later. So in that year we didn’t have anything. When he went, that event for me was so difficult I missed him so much and I felt to love him so I decided wait for him a year. When arrived the summer in 2006 he came again and we began again, we always shared together, we watches movies, we ate together, we traveled together to Coveñas, so it summer was so special and unforgettable for me. When missing one week for traveling of him, we weren’t able to decide how to do with our relationship, so one day before the travel I was with him in my house when my aunt (her mother) arrived and she said to him: “Steven in one hour your uncle arrive for going to the center and it´s better that you say goodbye right now”; in that moment I felt so bad and I didn’t know to say him, so in that moment we only look in the eyes and he hugged me and he said me “GOOD BYE”. And he went. It situation was so terrible for me and I decided to go to airport the next day, but he was so serious and when he had to go he didn’t tell me anything and I neither. One year later he came back but the relation between us was different, he didn’t talk me because our family prohibited again to be together, so I felt so bad and I gave him a letter but he never told me anything about it. One year later, in 2008 he came back again and we talked but only as two cousin. And since that year I didn’t see him.

· The name of a teacher you remember:

My favorite teacher is Marleny; she is the English teacher in high school in “la Normal”. I remember so much her because she is an excellent teacher, she has a methodology that is: Presentation of the topic, practice and evaluation; and the person who knows- win the subject, and the person who doesn’t know-lose the subject; and I like it methodology because the students always are concentrate and interesting in the area. Also if a person has two grades lose the person lost the subject. And her methodology was my motivation for chose it Carrera.

Also she is so important for me because when I was down she always encouraged me, for example in nine grade, I really didn’t matter study and she always told me many things, and in the end of the year I was more studious and more participate, so a day I had an exposition with her and I was so nervous, so I did it and in the final she told me that she was proud to see me as before. And I felt so happy with it. So for it reason I remember so much her.

JOHNNY DEPP

John Christopher Depp born in Kentucky, on June 9 of 1963, he dropped out of school at age 15 with the hopes of becoming a rock musician. He fronted a series of garage bands including The Kids. Depp got into acting after a visit to Los Angeles, California, with his former wife, Lori Anne Allison, who introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage. He made his film debut in “A Nightmare on Elm Street” in 1984.

In 1990, his first of a handful of great collaborations with director Tim Burton came about when Depp played the title role in “El joven manos de tijera”. He continued to gain critical acclaim and increasing popularity by appearing in many features like Ed Wood, Donnie Brasco, Al Pacino , Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas among other.

Depp has played many characters in his career. He stole the show from screen greats such as Antonio Banderas in the finale "mariachi" trilogy, Once Upon a Time in Mexico in 2003. This film had been transmitting by national channels like RCN and Caracol. In that same year he starred in the marvelous family blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, playing a character that only the likes of Depp could pull off: the charming, conniving and roguish Captain Jack Sparrow. In 2004 he was in “The Secret Window”, my favorite movie played by him. Then Depp was collaborating again with Burton in a screen adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The most recognized last movies in which he takes part were: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man´s Chest (2006), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), Public Enemies (2009), The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009), Alice in Wonderland (2009) and the next year will throw the fourth movie of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
